How To Cure Sleep Deprivation
At the end of a long day we all look forward to sleep. Nothing beats a good night?s rest that allows us to get up rested the next morning. Sadly, many people wake up in the morning feeling bleary and exhausted even after having slept to their heart?s content. We are all aware of this feeling, having experiences at least once in our lives, when we just want to sneak in just a few more minutes or hours of sleep.
Sleep deprivation, triggered by feelings of fatigue after awakening in the morning, should not be overlooked. When a person is frequently deprived of deep slumber, he is likely to suffer from adverse effects, in the short and the long run.
In the short run, the consequences include headaches and dizziness, vomiting, bad tempers, reduced efficiency in performance, high tension levels and poor recollection. Some of them can be particularly dangerous, for example decreased span of attention and alertness can cause accidents when driving or operating dangerous machinery.
Sleep deprivation can have potentially dangerous health effects. In the long term, when the body is deprived of sleep, the hormonal levels are disturbed causing various diseases such as diabetes. Usually hormonal instability results in obesity and exercises and diets hardly pay off. Immunity is lowered increasing the chances of illness. In children and teenagers, lack of adequate sleep causes abnormal and poor growth, and the onset of depression is often noticed when an individual is deprived of sleep.
For an average adult, 5 to 8 hours of sleep is considered normal. For several others, 10 hours is the ideal time for resting. Whatever be the case, it is important to prioritize sleep needs in order to improve the quality of life. In general, children, teenagers and elderly people need more hours of sleep as compared to adults. Sleep hours need to be adequate to ensure you wake up refreshed every morning.
