Symptoms Of Sleep Apnea — Home Remedy For Sleep Apnea
When my friend Jerry said the throat specialist had diagnosed him as having sleep apnea, I asked him what made him aware of the problem in the first place. He said his wife kept complaining of his loud snoring so he went to the throat specialist who examined him and recommended he spend a night at the hospital. A few days later Jerry was shown the test results and informed that he had sleep apnea. I was appalled. I snore too. So does that mean I had this sleep apnea as well?
What exactly is sleep apnea and what exactly are its symptoms?
I grabbed a book in the local library and learned that apnea is like a breathing disruption and occurs while we are sleeping. Should the stats by the end in the book can be believed, then around 90% of men and women here in america could be experiencing sleep apnea and not know of it. Seems most of us choke and gasp for air more often than not during our “normal” sleep but have no recollection from it. Wow! I somehow cannot imagine myself gasping and choking but not knowing it.
What’s promising, simply because I snore doesn’t imply I got sleep apnea. Aha! Snoring, I just read, was different then having apnea. Snoring is brought on by obstruction within the wind pipe and leads to the loud sound I would make when sleeping.
True it can be unpleasant for my partner but it doesn’t mean I got sleep apnea. However, the book also informs me if I snore, the chances are fantastic which i could be experiencing sleep deprivation. On reading further, I realized that the symptoms of sleep deprivation include a feeling of weakness once you get up each day as if your sleep had not been completed, feeling tired as opposed to refreshed, getting out of bed with a headache, experiencing frequent heartburn during the night.
The signs of insufficient sleep that a partner might notice include loud snoring, which you don’t appear to breathe and awaken choking and then fall back asleep again, at the same time as being restless while asleep. The book however mentions that accurate diagnosis only works at the local hospital or sleep center where they’ve got the appropriate medical equipment to watch you while you sleep.
What about our kids?
The book also had a chapter on reduced sleep in kids. You need to have your youngster examined if your little one is below five years of age and snores, or breaths through the mouth, sweats, is restless and wakes up more often than not when asleep. If your little one is above five-years old and snores, there exists frequent bed wetting, is poor at studies and contains stunted physical growth when compared with other children of the same age, then you should think about taking your youngster to an expert on anti snoring.
