Sleep Apnea Alert: Is Sleeping On Your Stomach Bad?
Well, you may not believe this but our sleeping positions can tell so much about the sort of persons that we are. Is sleep apnea shown by sleeping stances? No, they probably don’t mark sleep apnea, but these sleep postures do say something else.
Seemingly, persnickety is one who logs Z’s on the side with one knee bended. Tender is the side sleeper lying down on his or her one arm.
Pairs also narrate something about their relationship by the style they sleep: beware of spooning for it predicates one partner is overshadowed by the other; those insanely in love (newly weds?) intertwine their bodies; and if there’s a falling out, couples nap far apart (is this more perturbing than having sleep apnea?
How would one recognize if he or she has sleep apnea, then? Well, sleep apnea may be forecasted by unsatisfied slumber, snorting, panting or choking in sleep, loud snore and excessive perspiration while fast asleep, among others. Other signs of sleep apnea may also be observed upon awakening, such as restlessness, confusion and/or dryness in the mouth. Insomnia and extraordinary daytime sleepiness are among sleep apnea’s symptoms, too; thus, sleep apnea is not just apparent in sleep.
Now one might postulate, if one’s sleeping posture is not an indication of sleep apnea, does one’s sleeping posture or the other cause sleep apnea? The reply is “no.” Sleep apnea does not seem to be caused by sleeping postures. Actually, sleep apnea is stimulated by colossal tonsils, a colossal tongue or a certain structure of the jaw or if one’s air duct is closed up by surplus tissue.
While sleeping stances are not precursors to sleep apnea, they do disclose who you are and the status of your relationship. So, sleep tight!
In case you suspect that either you or your partner is suffering from sleep apnea, it is highly advisable that you consult a certified sleep disorder specialist. Doing so will not only help you or your partner have a good night’s sleep, consulting with the specialist can also save your life.
