Childhood Ailments: Chronic Coughs

This is a viral ailment. Symptoms usually include coughing and runny nose. Over some days, the coughing gradually grows worse. Moreover, coughing can be accompanied by low grade fever; the sufferer may also complain of feeling weak. The condition improves after eight to twelve days. This illness does not respond to antibiotic treatment.
Aspiration Or Ingestion Of Indigestible Objects
This is not an ailment, but the gravity of the situation when a child accidentally ingested or inhaled small items that obstruct their windpipes necessitate immediate medical aid.
Cystic Fibrosis
Cystic fibrosis is an inherited disorder that affects the entire body and causes progressive disability. Unfortunately, children are the usual sufferers of this illness. The sufferer of cystic fibrosis will have bouts of wheezing, persistent coughs and chronic lung and sinus infections.
Parents should pay attention to their kids when they have coughing bouts. If the coughing persists and gets worse over several days and it does not get better when the usual cough treatments are administered, the parents need to take their kids to the hospital for medical treatment.
