Blocking your girlfriend’s irritable voice may work for a while, but to totally unable to hear it is a problem you have to address. Hearing loss is not unusual to those in the baby boomers stage, or simply those approaching the retirement age. If this is simply a one time problem, perhaps you are merely having a cold, an ear infection, sinusitis, or other malady. But this may lead to a permanent loss of hearing if you go through this on regularly.
Youth nowadays increase the volume of their iPod or TV in an astonishing level. While it seems inconsequential today, that may not be the case to you. If you think you increase the volume not because you want it that way or because you just got used to it, then you may be doing it because you have to hear it. Maybe you already have damaged hearing.
Do you have problems distinguishing setting noise from the main voice? This is one of the most recognizable symptoms of hearing loss. When you have a trouble identifying the voice of the person who is talking to you from the rest of the noise of the room, then you are in trouble.
Are you hearing an endless buzzing sound? That annoying ringing sound that doesn’t seem to go away when you want it is called tinnitus. A large percent of those who have tinnitus lose their hearing subsequently.
